While on a trip out west last winter, Karen and I were hiking in Red Rocks Canyon with our Vegas friends, Eric and Kelly; we were talking about how beautiful it was to fly over the Grand Canyon on our flight out. Being a pilot (and slightly insane, I'm convinced), Eric said he always wanted to fly over the Grand Canyon in a Cessna. I aggreed that, yes, indeed, that would be quite a cool thing to do and never thought it was going to happen, next thing I know, Eric is on the phone reserving a plane for the next morning. In retrospect, it seems way too cheap and easy for one to rent an airplane.
I took this video with my cell phone and when I converted it to YouTube, the quality deteriorated. Although extremely terrifying (and somewhat nauseating) this was by far one of the top ten moments of my life. Coincidentally, the last time I visited the Grand Canyon was to hike to the bottom, also with Eric and Kelly.

As I remember, the entire trip was less than two hours and as you can see in the video, we also enjoyed amazing aerial views of mountain ranges and Lake Meade.
Not much else of significance happened on this trip. Except off-roading in an old beat-up jeep down a dried river-bed leading to a desert clearing where a makeshift and illegal shooting range existed and firing a .22 and .45 at old computer parts and beer cans while using bullets as ear plugs. Oh yeah, and longboarding for the first time in my life. At high speeds. Down a steep hill. To a bar that I am still convinced we could have easily (and safely) walked to.
I only fell off three times.
